Hello, everyone!
Apologies for how quiet it's been - there have been some extenuating circumstances that demanded our attention.
Let’s get right into it.
Last month, our founder Isaac Muir had his Discord account hacked and stolen. As those of you who were on the Hexahedron community server probably noticed, all Discord servers that this account had administrative access to were appropriated as well. This also included our internal development server and several other servers that were used to coordinate community events. The hacker quickly kicked any users who pointed out what had happened, and eventually either removed everyone from the servers or simply deleted them outright - we have no way to tell.
The hacker demanded a monetary ransom that we couldn’t afford to pay; additionally, there was no way to guarantee that they wouldn’t simply take the money and run. Discord’s support team was unable to assist us because Muir’s personal email account had also (temporarily) been compromised in the same hack. Ultimately, Muir decided that trying to get his original account back was a lost cause, and that it would be simpler to just make a new account entirely.
To be clear, none of our game files, source files, or development documents were lost. All of our files are safely backed up across multiple locations; the hack only directly impacted our Discord servers.
As you can imagine, this has been an incredibly stressful and disheartening time for us, especially Muir, who had both his privacy and security violated. Much of the last month and a half has been spent rebuilding what we can, as well as instituting multiple layers of additional security to prevent and mitigate any kind of similar attack on our members in the future. This has taken up time that we would much rather be devoting to game development.
We’d like to announce the new community server that should never befall the same fate as the previous, and with that, we’d also like to update you all to some new progress teased in May’s Patreon post, which is that the Colony tabletop RPG has had a mechanical breakthrough which also allows it to be a wargame right out of the box. With this in mind, we have been prototyping and 3D printing new game tokens to begin playtesting this new iteration of the game soon - more updates on that in the near future.
We are grateful to our old followers who have stuck with us on this journey and welcome the newcomers we have been seeing lately. It’s been rather astounding that even in our unfortunate absence, we have gained nearly one hundred new subscribers to our YouTube channel, and it is a joy to see our work spreading and being enjoyed by new and fresh people every day. We hope to have something new to share very soon, especially with the now long-late lore video we hoped to have completed at the end of 2022.
Until then, we have released an unfinished version of the first movement in the Song of Origins, and hope to have the rest of it out in due time. Check out the teaser below:
Thank you for taking the time to tune in for this update, we hope to have something new for you all soon, and we hope you all have a wonderful day.
